KP Norway
Notes from my Meeting with Bror Hardviksen in Norway on the 16th of November where we discussed the current state of the development of the school’s new website. A lot of questions were formulated in this meeting in relation to this process, to how the school currently generates and organizes content and information, and how and to whom access is given, here are some of them:
- What do we have?
e.g course plans, course materials, lectures notes and presentations, etc.
- What do we need?
- A LMS (Learning Management System)? Or do we need to learn how to use properly the tools that we already have?
- Where do I find things?
- Where do we put content?
- When are we using the wiki system and what for?
- When are we using the KP archives and what for?
- When are we using our personal web space and what for?
Is the content:
- private or public?
- Team related?
- Classes related?
- Organization related?
The information is there, there is a lot of content and we are constantly generating more and more, but there is no structure to it.
Is the people using these systems (the archives, the wiki pages) properly trained in how to use them, is there a set of guidelines on how the content should be structured?
Bror's concerns are about managing all the different "systems" and wether we place them right. and, furthermore, how can we utilize (taken from dilbert) the systems we already have.
Do we use iCal, iChat, Wiki, etc the way they should be used?
Bror expressed some very specific needs that KP Norway has in relation to the website:
- A CMS which where they can easily post content, info and news themselves
- Design manual
- Updated info about KP Network
- Fancy, cool, professional design.
