2002-2004 The University of Iceland A diploma in practical journalism.

2003 Danmarks Journalisthøjskole I participated in an international semester program. Teaching and writing was in English. The theme was stereotypes in journalism and the expansion of the European Union. The focus was in Estonia and the group went to Estonia for the EU referendum in September 2004. 2002 The University of Iceland A Bachellor of Arts degree in anthropology and mass communications theory. My final thesis was on multiculturalism and multicultural education in light of globalization. It had an emphasis on racism and culture.

1995-1998 Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurnesja Graduate from secondary school/ gymnasium. Rewarded for the highest average grade, good performance in french, german and social affairs.

Work experience

2004-2005 A future in a new country An assisant in this project that aims to help young Vietnamese people, aged 15-25, into school and jobs. The project has a holistic approach and consists of a mentor program, one-on-one talks, group work and more. The project is funded by the city of Reykjavík, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Icelandic Red Cross, the Intercultural Center in Reykjavík and the Icelandic welfare fund for children.

2004-2005 Managing director for the Kópavogur branch of the Icelandic Red Cross I was hired for 14 months as a replacement. I supervised the office and volunteer center, organized and held seminars, acquired volunteers and organized projects for volunteers who are about 120 in the Kópavogur branch.

2003 Summerjob. Dronning Anne-Marie Centret, Frederiksberg, København Cleaning in an old people’s home.

2002 Summerjob. International Coordinator at the Office of International Education (OIE) in Reykjavík The OIE is the national agency for the Socrates programme in Iceland. My work included, among other things, taking care of foreign exchange students that come to Iceland to study. It ranged from receiving their applications to finding housing for them.

2001 Summerjob. A research funded by the Innovative Reward Fund for Icelandic University Students (Nýsköpunarsjóður námsmanna) and the Red Cross The research was based on multicultural education in six kindergartens in Reykjavík.

2001 Summerjob. Check-in assistant for Icelandair Ground Services (IGS) Checking in passengers and giving information.

2000 Summerjob. Consultant and office-worker at POV (Privately Owned Vehicles), US Naval Air Base, Keflavík, Iceland Consulting and various office work.

1999 Summerjob. The National Bank of Iceland, Keflavík Cashier.

1999 Substitute teacher in an elementary school, Myllubakkaskóli, Keflavík Substitute teacher for children in the 1st through 6th grade. January, 1999 – May, 1999.

Computer skills

Good knowledge in Word, Excel and Power Point and use of the internet and e-mail. Basic knowledge in HTML scripting, flash, imovie and fireworks.
