The project freedom and learning is about the development of new educational concepts that can be useful to the 3rd world.
By strengthening the education systems, we hope to give people in poverty-stricken countries the opportunity to improve their living conditions, and thereby reduce the imbalance in the world.We are 35 students from the Entrepreneurship school KaosPilots in Aarhus, Denmark. From the 15th of February until the 17th of May we will be living and working in Cuba. The ambition with our stay there is collect knowledge about education in the 3rd world. The insights gained during these three months will then build the basis for an organisation/business delivering education services to the 3rd world. The Business plan for this organisation will then be presented to possible international investors.
The term entrepreneurship is often being directly associated to business and fast profit. Being young KaosPilot students, mainly brought up in Scandinavia, our understanding of being an entrepreneur includes much more.
With this project we wish to show the world how it is possible to do things differently. We want to be entrepreneurs that create opportunities and chances for others than ourselves. And thereby we want to co-create a future where we can meet young people from the other side of the world, people that are equal to us in what choices they have. Choices that give people the power and freedom to create their own situation.
Our goal is to work out strong concepts, based on the existing conditions and needs that point to a future that is affected by huge challenges and changes. This assignment demands efforts to think out of the box and find innovative solutions.
Some of our core competencies as KaosPilots are idea development, process design and execution as well as entrepreneurial thinking.
According to these competencies we will solve the assignment:
- By activating existing knowledge and experience amongst Cuba and the Cuban people - By activating existing knowledge and experience outside Cuba. - By involving the Cuban people in workshops dealing with various questions on education - By designing and facilitating idea development processes for and with the Cuban people - By trying and test the ideas coming out of these processes, together with Cuban people, during our stay in Cuba
We have chosen Cuba as our destination because of different reasons. One of the reasons is that Cuba is a 3rd world country where education is highly prioritised. Cuba has therefore collected a lot valuable experience and interesting thoughts in this area. Then we are convinced it is viable for innovation to happen to challenge our own mental patterns and paradigms about the world we live in. By placing ourselves in a context like Cuba, where our picture of the world around us is not applicable anymore, we hope to find new solutions and ideas in the area of our interest.
Definitely one important part of the project will build all the stories collected during our journey, stories that surely will evolve on our way to fulfilling the task we have given ourselves. We will document these stories in articles on our webpage (www.xxx.com) and a documentary film will be produced as well.
